What could possibly be the most boring week ever has come to pass. The highlight being the "sticker market" at school where kids could trade there reward cards for stationery items and I acted as the shop keeper.

Of course the funniest moment came when one of the kids asked (in perfect Stafford - taught English) "Can I have a discount?. I nearly fell over laughing.

Mum and Mark Left NZ on Friday on their around the world holiday - meaning they will be in Seoul in just under six weeks. I havn’t seen my Mummy in over a year!

Events to look forward to in the coming week:
Monday & Tues - compulsive TV viewing with NCIS on at 9pm
Payday - always a drunken mess
Sat - going to Yongsan to buy a juicer. - Freaki’n COOL! (and get DMZ tickets at the USO - can’t forget!)
Plus 5 days of work of course. (Yipee!)

Hows this for irony - I have a $300 Sony Playstation Portable, And the best thing about it is that it plays old school Nintendo GameBoy games.

Soju - Oh no-ju!

Dsc00005_1  What better way to spend your Friday night than getting very very drunk?

What better way to spend your Saturday than suffering from possibly the worst hangover since the dawn of time?

Thought I’d go for a change and take my Soju with grape juice rather than the usual dash of pineapple. A decision that would come back to haunt me, but more on that later.

So after downing 2 bottles at home I made my way to Ooops Bar after an absence of some 2 or 3 weeks. As is often the case the bar staff had completely changed with the exception of Yun hui whom I can never quite get - but she was in good form and she gave me a Jack Daniels clock thing.

I guess its that sort of thing that makes me keep going back, I’ve scored a Jack Daniels diary, Sapporo clock, KGB money box and god knows how many free drinks so I’ll be back.

Although not for a while me thinks. After 2 Guinness, 2 Heinekens and half a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black (W100,000 / $100) I stumbled home at some stage.

Next thing I know I’m crouched over my toilet throwing up, eyes’ still closed hoping my aim was on target, which, thankfully, I was. 12 hours later I can still see (and taste) the grape juice coloured vomit with little balls of Kim (seaweed - a common bar snack in Korea).floating in it.

I have had a splitting headache all day. :-(

In other news I reread the “Prison Diary”. I really cannot feel any sympathy for someone who has lived here for six years, presumably on an English teacher’s (i.e. good) wage, and hasn’t used a couple of days to get the necessary paperwork together, caught the ferry to Osaka, and got a visa!! I mean C’mon! And he can speak fluent Korean for god’s sake!

Lastly I got asked about the title, Chosun Bimbo which is obviously not as straightforward as I thought. It’s supposed to be a play on Chosun Ilbo one of the daily papers here. Jeez! Tough crowd. I thought it was funny….

First post - I am king of the w3! - Not really.

I have the day off which is not entirely unusual as Korea seems to have at least one public holiday each month, but I’m not sure if this is nation wide. The boss loosly termed it as "Education Day" and I recall having a similar day off last May in addition to Teacher’s Day (which fell on a Sunday this year bugger it!)(Which is not to be confused with World Teacher’s Day in October)

So after typing out the JungChul version of the Three Little Pigs last night I watched the movie "Saw" on DVD. Quite good actually. Had the makings of one of those crappy man overcomes huge scary adversity human drama type horror films until the particularly good ending…

New Zealand got a mention on CNN this morning (a couple actually) with enormous flooding in the BoP and Tauranga. Speaking of such things Winston Peters for PM? I’ve been out of New Zealand far too long. This from Hard News:

… NBR’s speculation about a possible deal to give Winston Peters
the job of Prime Minister in a potential coalition with National, with
Don Brash shuttling off to run the finances. Such talk will have been
bolstered by last night’s One News Colmar Brunton poll, which had Brash dropping five points to 15% support as preferred Prime Minister and Peters rising to snap at his heels….

About bloody time actually.

Who saw George Galloway give a US senator a bollocking then aye!?  Reminds me very very very much of my high school headmaster. Scary Scottish nonsense… And any other illegal foreigners teaching English who have been arrested want to send me their Prison Diary? (You know who you are…)
